To react vis-a-vis the unemployment of the seniors

According to a survey have just been published by INSEE, the inequalities grow hollow on the job market. The light fall of unemployment recorded for one year has not benefitted the seniors sufficiently. The firms recruit few people having exceeded around fifty: in 2007, they accounted for only 7% of the new recruits whereas they constitute 17% of the job-seekers. Also, 38% of the unemployed of more than 50 years have sought an employment for more than two years. In answer to these problems, the Government encouraged the measurements aiming at supporting the hold in activity of the seniors. Today, it is a question in parallel of more facilitating the return to employment to them. In addition to the development of the operative paragraphs of accompaniment, the exemption of looking for a job, of which could hitherto profit the unemployed from at least 57 years and half, will be gradually abolished from here by 2012. It is one of the measurements provided for by the adopted law on the rights and duties of the job-seekers on August 1st.

Responsibilisation or sanction of the unemployed?

The bill on the control of the unemployed will be discussed in front of the Senate and the National Assembly starting from June 23rd, 2008. And at the end of one year, the unemployed person will not be able any more to refuse more than 2 vacancies remunerated by height of the income of replacement i.e. of the unemployment benefit.

Called into question of the exemption of looking for a job

The private employees of employment who are registered in at the conclusion of the rupture of their work contract, must seek an employment actively, under penalty of being erased list of the job-seekers. Currently only the 55 year old older wage earners which adds up 160 quarters of old-age insurance and those 57 years old and half, can be exempted of this looking for a job. This possibility is likely to be abolished by the Current government which notes that to find a last work 55 or 57 years is particularly difficult. The Minister for the economy, Christine , specified that this measurement would play for the future and not for the employees who are related to today with this provision.
